Abstract:

Learn the basics of how to generate interest and support for your project with individuals and groups in your community, and how to become a valuable resource for your local media.

Biography:

Tom Rathbun works in the Press Office at DEP's Central Office in Harrisburg where he oversees publications and press relations for the Office of Mineral Resources Management and the Bureau of Waterways Engineering.  Tom has worked in sales, radio, television and newspapers and has worked both sides of the fence as a reporter and as a representative of private industry and state and local government. He grew up hiking and camping in the abandoned mines of the Ligonier and Indian Creek Valleys and is anxious to help the people who are working to reclaim these areas hone their communications skills.
